Preparing for the excitement of the Great Backyard Bird Count tomorrow and it seems as if the birds which recently migrated to the shrubs along the edge of our yard might be thrilled as well. Evidence?
They are eating so much that their dark, berry-filled poop speckles the grass, the driveway, and my windshield. The berries these birds enjoy come from the privet and shrubs, and we speculate that the poop is so dark because the berries are black. We haven't managed to identify them yet, except to note that their reddish-orange breasts and black heads bring them close to Max's well-loved American Robin.
